New Fixture: 10-Dec-11

Following the withdrawal of New Milton from League 5, a friendly game has been scheduled for the 2nd XI, against a Fareham XI, on Saturday 10-Dec-11. Match to be played at Thornden School at 1030 am.

Div 5: New Milton Withdrawal

New Milton recently withdrew from Division 5, resulting in all points associted with those games being removed from the Table. Eastleigh had the 3 points gained for the NewMilton win withdrawn.

CLUB DAY 2011

The 2011-12 Season CLUB DAY will be held on 10-Sep-11, between 1015-1200 hrs at Thornden School, so please try to get there for 10.00 so that we can make the most of the time we have. Please bring along any new players you can find; there will be spare sticks and shin pads available. As usual, there will be TEAS afterwards so please bring tea for one. It would be nice if you brought your cheque books too, so that you can pay your yearly subscription. [An absolute bargain at only £65 for the season]. ALL NEW PLAYERS ARE WELCOME.

2010-11 AGM & Prizegiving

All players and members are invited to the ELHC Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Prizegiving, which is to be held at Churchills Club, 4a Desborough Road, Eastleigh on Monday 16-May-11. The meeting will begin at 7.15 pm. Attendees will be able to enjoy 2 x free drinks and a selection of nibbles. Please remember that this is your club; the vibrancy and character of the Club comes from you, the members. So, please feel free to discuss proposals or prize nominations with committee members of team captains. There will be plenty of opportunity to raise any points during the meeting. We look forward to seeing you all on 16-May-11.

2nd Team Promoted

Congratulations to the 2nd Team, who won promotion from Hants Ladies Division 6. On 12-Mar-11, the team topped the Division and, with two games left to play, were 9 points clear of their closest rivals.

League 6 - Team Withdrawal

Fareham 3 has withdrawn from Hampshire League 6. This leaves the Eastleigh 2 team without a home game on 09-Oct-10, and an away match on 29-Jan-11. We'll try and organise a friendly match to fill these gaps.

1st Team Promoted

Congratulations to Eastleigh Ladies 1st team, who overcame a very difficult Trajans team 2-1 at Thornden School, and gained promotion to Hants League Division 2 next season.

Christmas Party Time..!

Following last year's great event, the Christmas Party has been booked at the same venue. It will be held at The Potters Heron, Ampfield (SO51 9ZF) from 7.00pm on Saturday 09-Jan-10. Cost is £26 per head. Secret Santa: Buy a present, to the value of £5, to bring with you.....or recycle one of those you got for Christmas! Local MP Support For ELHC

The Eastleigh Ladies' Hockey Team had top level political support ahead of their match against the Trojans from Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne. Chris was pictured with the first team in the goals at Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh, ahead of Eastleigh's 4 - 3 victory over the Trojans' Ladies. Chris said: "The Eastleigh Ladies have great ambitions to grow and thrive, having topped their division in the Hampshire Ladies' Hockey League. Hants Trophy 2009-10

The draw for this season's cup competition has been announced. As winners of last season's Hampshire Trophy Cup, we've received a bye in the first round of the Competition. We've drawn a home tie against Andover 3 in the second round; the match is to be played on 21-Mar-10.

END OF SEASON SOCIAL

ELHC's last league matches are on the 24th March. We are planning to go out and celebrate the end of the Winter Season and the start of the Summer Season that evening. Celebrations will start at the King Rufus at 7.30 pm. Hope to see you all there.

Doris Haines has decided to stand down as Club Captain. She worked tirelessly over several seasons, providing support to the Club, Committee and members; and wants to take a well-deserved break. Her wisdom and commitment will be missed, but we hope she enjoys the rest.

RETIREMENT: 1st TEAM CAPTAIN

Bex Brazier retired as 1st Team Captain at the end of last season. The Club would like to thank her for doing a fantastic job through the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. We hope you enjoy the break, and look forward to seeing you back again soon.

GRANT: AWARDS FOR ALL

The Club recently secured a £5,000 Lottery grant, from the Awards For All scheme. The Grant will be used to launch a recruitment campaign to encourage more people to participate in local Ladies Hockey. As part of this, the Club has set this website, to promote itself and to provide a way for potential members to get in contact. The Club is also buying additional coaching, umpiring and goalkeeping equipment, and providing training for more umpires and coaches, to support the intake of new members. Loan equipment is also available to those that just want to see whether they’d enjoy playing in a local ladies’ hockey team.

The Club is looking for someone to act as Fixtures Secretary for the remainder of the season. Nicola Hutchinson did a fantastic job before returning home to Oz, so the duties are minimal going forward. Come and offer a helping hand to your Committee; sharing out the admin makes it a little easier for everyone.
