News 6-May-2008 Summer League Begins The 2008 Summer League has arrived. We will play 11 games, all of which are on a Tuesday evening. The first match is on 06-May-08; you can check out all of the Summer fixtures, from the Teams section. Interested? Then email Emma Penson, via the Who's Who section. 12-Apr-2008 30-Apr-08: AGM & Prizegiving All players and members are invited to the Club's Annual General Meeting and Prizegiving, which is to be held at Churchills Club, 4a Desborough Road, Eastleigh on Wednesday 30th April 2008. The meeting will begin at 7.30 pm. Attendees will be able to enjoy 2 x free drinks and a selection of nibbles. Please remember that this is YOUR club; it's survival relies on you contributing both on and off the pitch, whenever you can. Please feel free to discuss any committee and prize nominations in advance, or make proposals prior to, or during, the meeting. Look forward to seeing you all on April 30th. 1-Dec-2007 No Training Between 06-Dec-07 and 02-Jan-08 The last 2007 Training Session will be held on Weds 05-Dec-07. Training will resume on Weds 09-Jan-08 at Thornden School, 7.30pm until 9.00pm. Come along and blow those Christmas and New Year cobwebs away. 27-Nov-2007 Club Day: 08-Dec-07 CLUB DAY 2 will be held on the 8th Dec 07. There will be a prize for the BEST CHRISTMAS HAT. Please bring along any new players you can find, it will run from 10.15am until Midday, so please try to get there for 10.00 so that we can make the most of the time we have. There will be teas in the classroom afterwards so bring tea for one. We will have spare sticks for any new players you may find. 12-Aug-2007 CLUB DAY - 08-SEP-07 CLUB DAY will be held on 8th Sep 07. Please bring along any new players you can find, it will run from 10.15am until Midday, so please try to get there for 10.00 so that we can make the most of the time we have. Just follow the link for DOCUMENTS at the bottom of this page, and select the FIH Hockey Rules download. 11-Apr-2007 HANTSWEB AWARDS 2007 Congratulations to you all! The Club's new website has been nominated for a Hantsweb Award 2007. These prestigious Awards are run by Hampshire County Council, and reward the best websites and internet services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Nominations close on 22 April 2007, after which the judging will begin. All websites will be judged against standard good web practice criteria, confirming accessibility and ease of use by expert judges. 25-Mar-2007 RACE FOR LIFE Laura Watling is running in Cancer Research's 5km "Race for Life" in Poole on May 13th. She is running in honour of her Grandad, who was diagnosed with cancer in November last year. Many of us have been affected, to some degree, by this terrible disease; and the Club wishes Laura the very best of luck in her efforts. Club members can support Laura and Cancer Research by pledging money at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/laurawatling. Every little helps. 24-Mar-2007 END OF SEASON SOCIAL ELHC's last league matches are on the 24th March. We are planning to go out and celebrate the end of the Winter Season and the start of the Summer Season that evening. Celebrations will start at the King Rufus at 7.30 pm. Christmas Lucky Dip Buy a present, to the value of £6, to bring with you. ....Or recycle one of the scabby ones you got for Christmas! 21-Sep-2006 VACANCY: CLUB SECRETARY The Committee is looking for a volunteer to act as Club Secretary. The Secretary’s duties are reasonably light, but the role is critical to the success of the Club. Julie is a keen and dedicated member of the Club, and will bring many qualities to the role. Members are encouraged to give Julie their full support throughout the forthcoming season. 13-Sep-2006 APPOINTMENT: 1st TEAM CAPTAIN The Club Committee is delighted to appoint Emma Penson as the 1st Team Captain. She will undoubtedly do well in this new role; and members are encouraged to give her their full support throughout the 2006-07 season. 31-Aug-2006 RETIREMENT: CLUB CAPTAIN Doris Haines has decided to stand down as Club Captain. She worked tirelessly over several seasons, providing support to the Club, Committee and members; and wants to take a well-deserved break. Her wisdom and commitment will be missed, but we hope she enjoys the rest. 23-Aug-2006 HOCKEY SHIRTS - NOW IN STOCK The Club has just replenished its stock of ELHC Team shirts. If anyone has ordered or needs one, then they can collect them from Linda Carpenter, for the bargain price of £17.50 each. 19-Aug-2006 EASTLEIGH CARNIVAL PROCESSION Several club members entered the Eastleigh Carnival procession, to raise funds for the Simon Says charity appeal. It also provided us with a great opportunity to raise the Club’s profile locally… as well as an excuse to get together for a drink afterwards. 31-May-2006 RETIREMENT: 1st TEAM CAPTAIN Bex Brazier retired as 1st Team Captain at the end of last season. The Club would like to thank her for doing a fantastic job through the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. We hope you enjoy the break, and look forward to seeing you back again soon. 13-Mar-2006 GRANT: AWARDS FOR ALL The Club recently secured a £5,000 Lottery grant, from the Awards For All scheme. The Grant will be used to launch a recruitment campaign to encourage more people to participate in local Ladies Hockey. As part of this, the Club has set this website, to promote itself and to provide a way for potential members to get in contact. The Club is also buying additional coaching, umpiring and goalkeeping equipment, and providing training for more umpires and coaches, to support the intake of new members. Loan equipment is also available to those that just want to see whether they’d enjoy playing in a local ladies’ hockey team. 2-Dec-2004 FIXTURES SECRETARY The Club is looking for someone to act as Fixtures Secretary for the remainder of the season. Nicola Hutchinson did a fantastic job before returning home to Oz, so the duties are minimal going forward. Come and offer a helping hand to your Committee; sharing out the admin makes it a little easier for everyone. 1-Dec-2004 NEW CLUB SECRETARY The Committee is delighted to announce the appointment of Jo McNeela as the new Club Secretary.
